What Is Made in Green by Oeko-Tex.?
Oeko-tex is a registered trade mark and it represent the international association for Research and testing in the field of Textile and Leather Ecology It is called Oeko-Tex itself in short. It was introduced in the year 1992 with the aim to ensure the consumers that Oeko-tex labelled products undergoes a laboratory testing for the harmful substances and are according to the limit values established by the Oeko-Tex Association. Made in Green is a label for products produced by textile industries which ensures that products are sustainable and tested for harmful substances as per the oeko-Tex requirements.
The Made in Green label replaces the former oeko-Tex 100 plus label in 2015. It is a traceable label for products in all kinds of textiles e.g. garments, home textiles and leather products e.g. garments, finished and semi-finished leathers including non-textile/-leather components (e.g. accessories) .This includes garments, home textiles, fabrics, non-wovens, textile accessories and non-textile components, leather fibre materials, leather clothing, leather accessories such as leather gloves, leather bags and leather shoes and also some skins e.g. sheepskin, lambskin, cowskin It ensures that the article has been tested for harmful substances. This is carried out through certification in accordance with Standard 100 by oeko-Tex or Leather standard by oeko-tex. Through the unique ID on the label can be used to trace the countries and production facilities where the labelled article was produced.
The objective of the standard is to define globally recognized requirements that ensure tested harmful substances , environmental friendly production , safe social working conditions and transparent supply chain.
Made in Green by Oeko-tex is the voluntary certification program and is suitable for any organization i.e. large, medium and small considering improvement in its practices and sustainability to meet the expectations of all stakeholders.
